Implant complications pose significant challenges for dentists involved in implant procedures. This special lecture aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of the factors contributing to peri-implantitis, enabling them to prevent these complications effectively. Topics include crucial aspects such as optimal implant positioning in six dimensions, restorative variables (e.g., crown contour, the distance between crown margin and fixture bone level, abutment height, residual cement, occlusion, tissue phenotype around the implant prosthesis), and various surgical considerations related to peri-implant diseases, including soft and hard tissue factors. The lecture will thoroughly explore strategies to avert these complications. Additionally, participants will gain insights into selecting the most appropriate treatment modalities for varied peri-implantitis defects, such as the "submerged regenerative approach," "osseous surgery combined with implantoplasty," and the "rescue implant approach." The correction of implant buccal dehiscence defects through soft tissue grafting will also be illustrated.
