This renowned two-day advanced workshop offers comprehensive training in contemporary soft tissue grafting, with a primary focus on the Modified Coronally Advanced Tunnel (MCAT) technique, originally introduced over 25 years ago and continuously refined through clinical research and innovation. Designed specifically for periodontists and surgically trained general dentists, this interactive, limited-attendance program blends evidence-based lectures, live surgery video demo, case presentations, and hands-on exercises on models and pig jaws.
Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to:
- Diagnose and classify gingival recession defects.
- Understand anatomical and biological factors influencing grafting outcomes.
- Select the appropriate grafting material (autografts, allografts, xenografts).
- Perform minimally invasive root coverage procedures with confidence.
- Apply the latest microsurgical instrumentation and suturing techniques.
- Manage complications and integrate grafting into interdisciplinary treatment plans.
- Fundamentals of periodontal plastic surgery and soft tissue regeneration.
- Recession classification systems and treatment planning protocols.
- Anatomical predictors of graft success, including tissue biotype and muscle attachments.
- Flap designs and approaches:
- Coronally Advanced Flap (CAF)
- Envelope and Tunnel Techniques
- Modified Coronally Advanced Tunnel (MCAT) with ADM
- VISTA (Vestibular Incision Subperiosteal Tunnel Access)
- T-CAF (Tunneled Coronally Advanced Flap)
- Evidence-based comparisons between autogenous, allogenic, and xenogeneic materials.
- Complication management: graft necrosis, flap dehiscence, and aesthetic failures.
- Interdisciplinary considerations: non-carious cervical lesions and restorative interfaces.
This course is grounded in the latest clinical and biological evidence, providing a predictable and reproducible approach to soft tissue grafting in both esthetic and functional zones. Attendees will leave with enhanced competence in minimally invasive root coverage and vestibular augmentation procedures, ready to apply these techniques in daily clinical practice.
